Slut Aus Nord Nohr has always been a genius, working unusual, cathartic melodies into strands of psychedelia with Muspellzheimr. Røkkr, however, is his most emotionally charged project yet, evoking the mournful Romanticism of Yellow Eyes' best works. I have grown weary of people hastily jumping to describing things as their 'AOTY', especially as early as February, but no 2024 release in the genre has demanded my attention so greatly as this. Favorite track: På vildspor i et mareridt.

While Ofte jeg drømmer mig død will most likely always be my favourite Afsky album (being one ov my favourite albums in general), Om hundrede år ticks all the boxes I hoped it would: the calm and simultaneously depressing folk elements are there; the wailing screams of a forlorn spirit, forced to eternally wander the woods (apt comparison, deadpunk!); the harsh, bitterly cold guitar riffs and the ultimate realisation of life, death and our inevitable undoing. Exactly what I want. Recommended! David Fischer
